Travel Essentials

The most important things to remember are your travel essentials; no vacation is complete without them.

1. Passport and ID

Do not forget your passport and or/ID- you will not be able to travel without either of them! If you are a US citizen, then you are allowed to travel domestic flights with your government issued Photo ID, such as your driver’s license. The same rule applied to EU citizens traveling within EU borders. Taking your passport with you, however, is most definitely always a good idea.

2. Visa

If you are traveling abroad, then make sure that you have your Visa sorted out before your trip. Visa regulations depend on your destination, so make sure to research all of the visa regulations in advance, to ensure that you will be able to travel to your vacation destination without any problems.

3. Travel Itinerary

If you are planning on visiting certain places during your vacation, or are planning to do certain activities, then make sure to take your travel itinerary with you. You can always edit this along the way.

4. Cell Phone

Make sure not to forget your cellular device. Traveling without it can be detrimental. If you feel like having a phone-free vacation, then just leave your cell phone is a safe place at your accommodation at times that you go outside.

5. Chargers and Outlets

No one wants a dead phone or a phone that is low on battery during their vacation. Make sure to pack all of the necessary chargers and outlets for your trip.

6. Electrical Outlet Adapter

Different geographical areas will have different electrical outlets. US outlets, for example, differ with outlets in Europe. Having an electrical outlet adapter handy can really save you time and stress during your vacation.

7. Wallet

Your wallet is a must during your vacation. Make sure that you have it in your bag at all times, to ensure safety. Be sure to regularly check where you’re keeping it, never wrong to keep tabs.

8. Cash

If you want to exchange your domestic currency for foreign currency, then having cash handy is a good idea. This will save you time, as you will not be having to look for an ATM to take out cash in. Having cash handy for exchange will also save you money, as some foreign ATMs may ask for a particular cost.

9. ATM, Credit, Debit cards

Do not forget your ATM, credit, and/or debit cards. These are necessary for any sort of travel and vacation. Be sure to contact your bank and notify them that you are traveling so they don’t accidentally lock your card, thinking it’s fraud.

10. Accommodation Address

Make sure that you have your accommodation address handy; visiting a foreign country can be confusing, especially if you do not speak the country’s language. Having your accommodation address can ensure saving you time and stress.

Travel Bag

The most important things to consider for your vacation planner checklist are your travel luggage and your travel bags. It is a good idea to pick a versatile luggage that is easily adaptable and accommodating. You want to make sure that you travel luggage is lightweight, so that it is easy to carry. A lightweight travel luggage will also allow you to pack heavier; at the airport, your luggage is weighed as it is, it would be a pity for your travel luggage to take up that valuable weight—since you are only allowed up to a certain weight. Having a lightweight travel luggage with grant you that extra weight space, and can also save you money— because traveling overweight comes with an overweight fee.

You want to also make sure that your travel luggage is large enough to fit all of your essentials. When you are buying a luggage, notice whether it has any defects. This is important because the last thing you want during your trip is to find out that your luggage has a defective zipper, or a broken wheel, or broken handle. Ask if your travel luggage comes with a warranty. Brands that backup their gear with warranty are usually known to be of greater quality.

Types of Travel Bags

Duffle Bag

If you are going on a short vacation, then a duffle bag is a great form of luggage. Duffle bags are lightweight, simple, and especially durable. You can also find a duffle bag that has wheels, if you prefer not to carry it on your shoulder.

Carry-On Suitcase

Carry on suitcases are truly the most efficient. If your vacation will only last a few days, then a carry-on may be your best bet. Carry ons are light, comfortable and easy to carry, they will save you money at the airport (since you will not have to pay for a checked in travel bag), they will save you time (since you will not have to wait in the line to check in any baggage), and you can rest assured that the airlines will not lose your bag since you are in full control over it.

4-Wheeled Suitcase

The reason why 4-wheeler suitcases are a good idea and especially popular, are because they are comfortable to carry, especially because of their wheels. If your travels will require you walking long distances with your luggage, then weight can become particularly restrictive. Using a  4-wheeler suitcase can help to ease the weight off of you, as you will easily be able to roll your travel bag by your side.
